Ranked matchmaking has been announced for Dota 2. According to the blog post (found here: http://blog.dota2.com/2013/12/matchmaking/), it will be pushed out at the next major update, which will likely be Frostivus, the holiday update. This seems like something that would have been useful as I began this project so that I could have had a tangible measure of my improvement. I will still be able to start the new year with an MMR and then track the change through May. This may also improve the quality of matches, but that isn’t assured.
*Due to technical difficulties, I am currently unable to upload the replay. I will expand this post when I upload the replay.*
This particular game seems strange in retrospect. After watching the replay, I realized that I took on the role of pseudo-hard support when I probably should have played to be a second core for our team as we already had three other heroes that could have taken up that role. I think my problem was that I didn’t stay in lane long enough and so had next to no farm for the majority of the game. The other team was able to capitalize on this pretty well until late game when our Weaver came online.
Again I’ll discuss this in more detail once I have the replay uploaded.
Here are the stats of the match: http://dotabuff.com/matches/412431793
I choose this game mainly because of performance during the laming stage. It highlights my inexperience with playing as Outworld Devourerer (OD) as well as my inexperience with playing in the mid lane at all.
I will now embark on a quest to further my Dota skills. For future reference, I will post my current statistics here:
